For a standard light-fixture replacement at a suitable existing location, labor is typically $180. This is for replacing a fixture where one already exists—not adding a new light, running wire, or changing the electrical layout.
The fixture itself, existing electrical box, mounting support, access, ceiling or wall surface, removal, assembly, and visible conditions all matter. Clear photos help us confirm whether the standard price applies before the work moves forward.
Standard light-fixture replacement: typically $180 labor
This price is for a straightforward replacement at an existing location when the fixture, existing box, support, access, and visible connection conditions are suitable.
When the price can be different
- Two or more compatible replacements: We may be able to offer a discounted rate when multiple fixtures can be handled in the same visit.
- Decorative fixtures: Installation starts at $240 labor.
- Basic chandeliers: Installation starts at $275 labor.
A decorative fixture or chandelier can require more time for assembly, mounting, support review, or access. An ornate chandelier that requires two or more additional people is not a fit for our service.
What this pricing does not cover
These prices are for replacement only. A licensed electrician is the right call for new fixture locations, new wire runs, new circuits, panel work, electrical troubleshooting, damaged wiring, or an existing electrical box or support that is not suitable.
What to send before scheduling
- A photo of the current fixture and the full ceiling or wall area
- A photo of the switch and visible box or canopy, when available
- The replacement fixture model, instructions, and weight if listed
- Photos and product details for every fixture if you want multiple replacements reviewed together
