Some Jobs Don’t Fit a Category — They Still Need to Get Done

Odd jobs are the one-off tasks that don’t come with a clean label.

They may involve taking something apart, removing an old structure, working around stored belongings, or solving a problem that needs patience more than a specialized crew.

The first step is figuring out whether the job fits our scope. Send photos and explain what needs to happen. If it makes sense for us, we’ll plan the work carefully. If it belongs with another trade, a moving company, or a hauling service, we’ll tell you straight.

Send photos before scheduling. The full area matters.

01 · SCOPE

What This Service Includes

Odd jobs vary, but a suitable visit may include:

  • Taking apart unwanted furniture, platforms, or household structures
  • Removing bulky items when removal is part of the approved job
  • Working carefully around appliances, tools, vehicles, and stored property
  • Handling unusual one-off tasks that do not fit a standard service category
  • Combining several small household tasks into one visit
  • Planning the order of work before moving or cutting anything
  • Cleaning the immediate work area after the task is complete

Photos matter on this kind of work. Show the full area, the item itself, what is underneath it, and the path out.

02 · FIT

Who This Service Is (and Isn’t) For

This may be a good fit for:

  • Homeowners with an unusual task that needs practical problem-solving
  • Large items that need careful disassembly before removal
  • Jobs surrounded by belongings or equipment that must be protected
  • Several small tasks that make sense to handle in one visit
  • Work that is too involved to ignore but too small for a large contractor

This may not be the right fit for:

  • Full-property junk removal or estate cleanouts
  • Moving services or heavy commercial rigging
  • Hazardous materials
  • Structural demolition
  • Consignment, resale, or ongoing property-management services
  • Work requiring a licensed specialty contractor

We may suggest another service when the job falls outside handyman scope.

If the work is for a rental property you personally own, use our separate rental-property intake form instead of the standard homeowner intake.

03 · TIMING

When a Handyman is the Right Choice

Text us when the job is difficult to describe with a normal service name.

Include photos of the whole area. Show anything underneath or beside the work. Include doorways, stairs, gates, or other access limits.

Those details help us decide whether one person can handle the work safely, whether help or special equipment would be needed, and whether another type of company is the better call.

04 · PRICING

Pricing Expectations (What Homeowners Should Know)

Odd-job pricing depends on the actual situation, not just the name of the task.

Factors may include:

  • The size and weight of the item
  • How it was built or attached
  • Whether it has shifted, broken, or partially collapsed
  • What must be protected around and underneath it
  • Access from the work area to the truck
  • Disassembly and cleanup time
  • Hauling and disposal requirements
  • Any additional small tasks included in the visit

Send clear photos first. We’ll ask questions before giving you a number.

05 · WHY US

Benefits of Working with Unstoppable Handyman

Odd jobs reward patience.

We review the work area, surrounding property, access, and the order of operations before starting. That planning helps define what can be handled within the approved scope and what may need another provider or additional help.

This business is built around practical help for smaller household tasks. A job can be unusual without being unimportant.

If it fits our scope, we’ll explain the plan. If it doesn’t, we’ll say so.

06 · REAL WORK

Real Homeowner Story

A homeowner in Lemon Grove had recently lost her husband. She had been struggling to find anyone willing to help with an unusual problem in her garage.

A hand-built model train table measured about four feet by eight feet. It had been suspended above the garage storage area. The structure collapsed onto a commercial refrigerator and an industrial belt sander, with other equipment packed around it.

She didn’t want to save the table. She wanted it removed and hauled away without causing more damage.

When I arrived alone, she was worried the job needed a crew. I explained that I start delicate work by slowing down. I spent time looking over the table, the equipment underneath it, and the order everything needed to move.

Then I worked through the removal one step at a time. The table came out without further damage to the refrigerator, belt sander, or the surrounding equipment.

While I was there, I also removed another ceiling platform that had started collapsing. Once both hazards were gone, she could use her washing machine again without worrying about something falling on her.

She was relieved. She also asked for a quote on additional work around the house because she had been unable to find anyone willing to come out.

That’s the point of this service. Some jobs are too unusual for a service menu and too small for a large contractor. They still matter to the homeowner living with them.

07 · COMMON QUESTIONS

Service FAQs

What counts as an odd job?
A one-off household task that does not fit neatly into a standard repair or installation category. Photos are the fastest way to see whether it fits our scope.

Can you take apart and remove a large item?
Sometimes. It depends on how the item was built, what surrounds it, the access path, and the disposal requirements.

Do you provide general junk removal?
No. Limited hauling may be possible when it is directly tied to an approved handyman task. Full cleanouts belong with a hauling company.

Can you work around appliances and stored equipment?
That depends on the space and the risk involved. Send wide photos and close-ups so we can evaluate what must be protected.

Can I combine other small jobs into the visit?
Yes, when the tasks fit our scope. Send the entire list before scheduling.

What if my job needs another trade?
We’ll tell you. Odd Jobs does not replace licensed electrical, plumbing, structural, hazardous-material, moving, or commercial rigging work.
