Mounted Into Solid Backing — Not Just Hung and Hoped For

That mirror leaning against the wall. The floating shelves still sitting in the box. The heavy piece of art you don't want to trust to a couple of nails. Mounting anything heavy sounds simple — until a missed stud or the wrong anchor means a cracked mirror, a shelf full of books on the floor, or a hole in the drywall right where everyone can see it.

That's the work we do every day. Whatever you're not comfortable trusting to a screw and a prayer, we'll anchor it so you never have to think about it again.

What This Service Includes

A typical mounting visit looks like this:

  • Locate the studs and confirm your wall type — drywall, plaster, tile, brick, or stucco
  • Match the right anchors and hardware to the weight of what's going up
  • Mount your item level and secure — mirrors, floating shelves, open shelving, heavy art and decor, range hoods, and more
  • Manage cords and hardware for a clean finish where possible
  • Test the hold and clean up before we leave

✔️ Already have the mount or bracket? We'll use it, as long as it's rated for the job. Don't have one yet? We'll tell you exactly what to get — or bring it for you.

Who This Service Is (and Isn’t) For

This service is a great fit for:

  • Heavy mirrors — vanity, full-length, or decorative
  • Floating shelves that need to actually hold weight
  • Open shelving, cabinets, and heavy wall decor or art
  • Range hoods and over-cabinet fixtures
  • Anything you're nervous about hanging yourself

This may not be the right fit for:

  • TV mounting — we have a dedicated service for that, just ask
  • Furniture anchoring or earthquake and child safety — see our Childproofing & Seismic Safety service
  • Major wall repair or reframing behind the mount

If we spot something deeper going on behind the wall, we'll tell you before we drill.

Real Homeowner Story

We recently helped a homeowner over in Tierrasanta with a handful of items in one visit — a mirror and a couple of glass floating shelves in the bathroom, a patio sliding door handle that had stopped working, and a couple of crooked outlets she'd been looking at for too long.

Most of it went smoothly, but there's almost always one little thing that makes you slow down and think. She had a beautiful round mirror set in a square metal frame, with an eyelet in the top-left and top-right corners. First we had to find the right spot — there was a vent behind the wall where she originally wanted it, so we worked out a placement that cleared the obstruction and still looked centered and clean. Then came the wrinkle: the heavy-duty anchors we needed were just a hair too big to pass through the eyelets on the frame. A little thing like that isn't going to hold us back. We grabbed a fresh metal bit, opened up the holes just enough to take the anchors, and set that mirror solid.

She was glad to have it all handled, too — she had to run her beagle puppy to the vet, so getting the whole list knocked out in one trip meant one less thing on her plate. That's what we love about this work. We're a family-run and operated shop, and helping a neighbor clear a list they'd been putting off — or would've had to call two or three different people for — is exactly why we do it. Mirrors, floating shelves, earthquake-proofing furniture, and anything else you want mounted securely and done right the first time.

Pricing Expectations (What Homeowners Should Know)

Pricing depends on a few things:

  • What's going up and how heavy it is
  • Your wall type — tile, brick, and stucco take more time than drywall
  • How many items you want mounted in one visit
  • Whether the hardware is on hand or needs to be sourced

Most mounting jobs are quick and affordable, and they bundle well — the more you have done in one trip, the better the value. Send a photo and we'll give you a straight, honest quote.

When a Handyman is the Right Choice

This is exactly the kind of job you don't need a big remodeling company for. Mounting is a focused, detail-driven task — it's about finding solid backing, choosing the right anchor, and getting it dead level. You don't need a contractor. You need someone who does this every week and gets it right the first time.

It's also one of the easiest jobs to bundle. Most homeowners have a few items waiting to go up — we knock them out in one visit instead of one weekend project at a time.

It's not just about looking good on day one. It has to hold.

Service FAQ's

Can you mount on tile, brick, or stucco?
Yes. Those walls just need the right bit and anchor, which we bring. No cracked tile, no guesswork.

How much weight can a floating shelf really hold?
It depends on the shelf and the wall, but the key is anchoring into studs or using the correct heavy-duty anchors. We size the hardware to what you plan to put on it.

Do I need to buy the mount or brackets first?
Not necessarily. Tell us what's going up and we'll point you to the right hardware, or pick it up for you.

Can you hang a heavy mirror so it won't shift?
Yes — heavy mirrors get anchored so they stay put and stay level, not just hung on a single hook and hoped for.

Can you do a few different items in one visit?
Absolutely — that's the most cost-effective way to do it. Most homeowners bundle several small jobs together.

How do I get a quote?
Text us a photo of what you need mounted and where. Photos let us quote accurately, usually without a trip out first.

Got something that needs to go up on the wall?

If you've got a mirror, a set of shelves, or anything heavy waiting to go up, it's worth doing once and doing it right. Send a photo of the spot and what you're mounting, and we'll get you a straight answer.
